USB Modem Support

Hi, I am just about to install Arch Linux after mainly using Ubuntu for a while, but now I want something a bit more streamlined and less of the crap that tends to come with ready-made distros.

Before I go ahead and install, the only way I have net access at the moment is via USB ADSL modem (SpeedTouch brand). Obviously I need net access to get stuff I need for ArchLinux. I was wondering, once I install Arch, will I be able to connect to the internet via this method or does arch only support ethernet/wireless?

No, though it's easier to connect to the internet with an ethernet modem/router, it is possible to use a USB adsl modem too.
I use one myself, but it's a Sagem F@st 800 modem not a SpeedTouch one.
You can try to configure your connection using a package from AUR.
Click the AUR button at the top of the page, then click Packages, type in SpeedTouch in the Keywords field and the Go button.
You can try the firmware-speedtouch-rev2 3.0.1.2-1 package or the speedtch 0.7-3.
There are explanations to install/configure in the Comment for the firmware-speedtouch-rev2 3.0.1.2-1 package.
