Conky compiled without X support rocks my socks.

Can you share your dwm statusbar script? It looks like it shows plenty of useful information.

Sure. Info displayed in dwm statusbar comes from conky.
~/.xinitrc

exec conky | dwm

~/.conkyrc

background no
out_to_console yes
total_run_times 0
no_buffers yes
uppercase no
update_interval 3

TEXT
[$mpd_smart] [${time %H:%M, %a %d/%m/%Y}] [M:${execi 300 python ~/.conky/gmail.py}] [C:$cpu% $freq_g ${acpitemp TZSV}^C] [B:$battery] [M:$memperc%] [U:${upspeed eth0}k/s D:${downspeed eth0}k/s]

I modified conky PKGBUILD a bit to disable x support

# Maintainer: Eric Belanger <belanger@astro.umontreal.ca>
# Contributor: karc <slothck@gmail.com>

pkgname=conky-cli
pkgver=1.4.5
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Conky command line, without X11 dependencies"
arch=(i686 x86_64)
url="http://conky.sourceforge.net/"
license="custom"
replaces=('torsmo')
provides=('conky')
conflicts=('conky')
depends=('glib2')
source=(http://optusnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/conky/conky-$pkgver.tar.bz2)

build() {
  cd $startdir/src/conky-$pkgver
  ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-mpd --disable-double-buffer --disable-x11 --disable-xdamage --disable-xft --disable-seti --disable-hddtemp --disable-portmon --disable-proc-uptime
  make || return 1
  make DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg install
  install -D -m644 doc/conkyrc.sample $startdir/pkg/etc/conkyrc.sample
  install -D -m644 COPYING $startdir/pkg/usr/share/licenses/conky/COPYING
}

md5sums=('4625c052852f2919a5e7ce2eb7c31189')

That way conky is more resource friendly than any bash scripts.

Thanks for sharing smile
Maybe you could add it to aur as conky-cli or something.
