hauppauge pvr-150, ivtv included in kernel

Hi everyone.

I've built a little htpc based on arch using a pvr-150 tv-tuner card which was worked well after i installed ivtv from extra. However, ivtv is now included in the kernel and I've problems watching tv in mythtv since then.

The strange thing is, that cat /var/log/kern.log |grep ivtv looks normal, that means the pvr-150 seems to be discovered and initialized correctly. however, there are some modules loaded that haven't been loaded before.

My question: Is anyone using a  pvr-150 in arch successfully with newest kernel and without ivtv installed seperately? Do I have to include some options in /etc/modprobe.conf?

Thx for your help guys!
Bernhard

Re: hauppauge pvr-150, ivtv included in kernel

I have a pvr-150, but I am not running mythTV. As of now I'm running mplayer pvr:// with this line in my .mplayer/config

tv = driver=v4l2:width=640:height=480:outfmt=i420:norm=NTSC-M

Can you post your dmesg output? also do you have ivtv-utils package installed. It contains the firmware. What does mythTV say when it crashes?

Hi there. Thx a lot for your input.

I've ivtv-utils installed. The problem with mythtv is _not_ that it is crashing. I even have image and sound. The problem is, that the live-tv stream is flickering all the time on every channel.

I am pretty sure that it has something to do with the pvr-150 card. I've another card (hauppauge pci-fm using bttv module) in the htpc which displays the tv-stream perfectly. So I'm pretty sure as well that the tv-channels are configured correctly.

I'll post the output of dmesg as soon as I get home from work!

Furthermore, what I forgot to write. I know the card itself is ok because yesterday I tried the card on a pc running windows and I had no problem with flickering tv.
