no internet?
well. im trying to connect to my internet at home.
i have a windows computer sharing a dialup connection via ICS
anyway, if i type ifconfig on my arch install, my ip and subnet are fine. and if i type route, it has the correct gateway ip
i can ping my gateway just fine. but cant access the internet....WTF
i can also ping yahoo.com's ip, and traceroute fine

Did you setup your DNS in /etc/resolv.conf? Seems you did not.

well, its definitely a DNS issue. i added the nameserver and everything. the configuration is the same as my ubuntu setup, i think at least
i configured pacman to use the ip's for the repos for now so i can keep setting it up until i get this fixed.
it was working at my friends place on they're router when i used dhcpcd eth0
i ahve the same router at home. but i have to turn DHCP off on my router because i have a windows machine running ICS, i have a wierd setup, but i have no choise there

If it's a DNS issue, you can try reconfiguring your router with the proper DNS, and/or use static IP on your Arch machine and setup /etc/reesolv.conf appropriately. Check under 'Configure the System' in the beginner's guide: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide

well, i fixed it. had a typo in my resolv.conf ............had namserver, not nameserver, thats why all the ip's looked good but it still didnt work
my bad guys, my bad
guess this means i need to change my sig
