No Error message. It takes now 3-4 minutes start up k3b.
You see only the start screen. After then k3b starts.

I also have this issue as of 1.0.2-1. k3b stalls out during loading.. takes about 10-20 seconds more to start..
1) Trying to burn anything and it always says there's no blank media in the drive.
2) Go into k3b settings.. devices and do a refresh and it says my Burner is gone.. lol Somethings wrong here!
Reverting back to 1.0.1-1 solves the above problems.
Don't know if it's that libata thing.. as I wasn't upgraded..

Zer0 : libata is a kernel module.
I did some searching on the web to get more information and users of other distros are also experiencing the same problem. One of them mentionned that using kernel 2.6.22-rc7 fixed it. If you want to try it, it's available in the folllowing repos, along with the external drivers.
For i686
[kernel]
Server = http://www.archlinux.org/~tpowa/rc-kernel
For x86_64
[kernel]
Server = http://www.archlinux.org/~thomas/rc-kernel-x86_64
As these are rc, I would recommend having a live CD or installing another kernel (ck, suspend2) with its entry in the grub or lilo config in case that the rc kernel doesn't boot/work .
For those who wants to downgrade, the old packages are here:
http://www.archlinux.org/~eric/k3b-1.0. … pkg.tar.gz
http://www.archlinux.org/~eric/k3b-1.0. … pkg.tar.gz
in case you cleaned your cache.

Same issue here, k3b hardlocks. I will have to consult the man pages, as I have never had to use pacman to downgrade a package, and there is no such info in the pacman wiki entry.
Wish me luck.

1.0.2 hung the OS on 2.6.21 here, but works on 2.6.22 (self-compiled ck, but with standard config).

I can confirm this issue. 1.0.2 hung the whole computer but 1.0.1-1 works perfectly
