Why it is so slow in removing trash permanently by Thunar

I use XFCE as my desktop environment.

And while removing trash permanently by Thunar,
(just open up the trash can folder on the desktop, and press "del" on the deleted files)
it takes such a long time about
50 minutes for one 1GB-sized directory!

I guess that is really slow, cause it only takes seconds to do this by the "rm" command.

I've tried google but nothing apparently relative has found.
So I'm here wondering if there is anybody experiencing the same (or similar) situation?

thunar: 080-5
fam: 2.7.0-9
hal: 0.5.9.1-1
exo: 0.3.2-5

kernel: 2.6.22.1-4
xfdesktop 4.4.1-3

Well, to save yourself from relying on a customized AUR package just to get rid of your trash, simply use SHIFT+DEL when you delete a file or folder and it will bypass the Trash can altogether.

Yeah, I don't have the answer, but I've been wondering why trash in Thunar is so slow, too?

It's nowhere near as fast as the trash mechanism in KDE, or Gnome.

Thanks for your advises.
But I really appreciate the Trash mechanism, which save me from time to time.

Besides, I also noticed while removing in Thunar permanently, for example, to remove a directory,
Thunar goes down into every files in the directory, which doesn't make sense and may be the reason why it is slow.

Isn't this the only way it can be achieved to delete a non-empty directory instead of "making no sense"?

At least this is the explanation for rm's -r option to me.
