I have thunderbird setup to retrieve messages from my Gmail account. This may seem like a simple problem: when I read an e-mail in thunderbird, then log onto gmail.com, it does not show up as read, but it will show up as read when I go back into thunderbird. I cannot see a way to fix this, any suggestions?

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

I'm pretty sure this is because the Gmail mail servers are pop3. My school has an imap server and it does this automatically.

I was reasonably sure this worked using GMail pop access. You can use the WebMail/GMail extension combo and this definitely works.

You need to login to webmail, go to settings,Forwarding and Pop and modify:
2. When messages are accessed with POP - Arhive Gmail's Copy
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
