My sound card isn't recognized, what would I have to do to get it working? I have an Ubuntu Live CD, and sound works on it, so I can boot into there and see what module I need if that would be necessary. My soundcard is a DELL X-Fi PCI Sound Card.

Device is detected. You should unmute chanels and setup volumes in alsamixer.
If that doesn't work, you should have a look at other intel-hda related topics in this forum.

I just realized when I run 'alsamixer' as non-root, I get:
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device
Could this have something to do with it?

No, it isn't, and this is what happens when I try to add it.

Try adding your user to the audio group as root.
