dellfand

I installed dellfand (from community) because I felt my laptop was getting overly hot.  It does not seem to be working properly.  The time at which the fan is updated seems overly quick...  The fan goes to the fast level in a quick burst then stops about 1 or 2 seconds later.  I am using the default config which tells the comp to check the status every 30 seconds.  Any ideas?

Edit: there appears to be something slowing the fan down that kick in after the 1 or 2 seconds slowing the fan back dawn.  Every 30 the speed goes up and then stops...

Re: dellfand

Bump.

Here some output form dellfand.  At the end you can see it trying to put the fan into state 2 (fast) from state 1 (slow) but when it next updates the fan is back in state 1.  It definitely goes to state 2 for about 1 second.

Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 136590 CPU Temp 59C
Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 137880 CPU Temp 56C
Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 137880 CPU Temp 57C
Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 137880 CPU Temp 42C
Fan 0 Status 2->0 Speed 136590 CPU Temp 37C
Fan 0 Status 0->2 Speed 0 CPU Temp 60C
Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 136590 CPU Temp 59C
Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 136590 CPU Temp 57C
Fan 0 Status 2->2 Speed 136590 CPU Temp 58C
Fan 0 Status 2->1 Speed 136590 CPU Temp 51C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 71970 CPU Temp 61C
Fan 0 Status 2->1 Speed 137880 CPU Temp 52C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 73380 CPU Temp 62C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 74490 CPU Temp 62C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 74490 CPU Temp 62C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 74490 CPU Temp 65C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 74130 CPU Temp 65C
Fan 0 Status 1->2 Speed 73770 CPU Temp 60C

I have tried using "modprobe -r fan" to see if that was controling the fan somehow but it does not work.

My laptop is a Dell Latitude D520.
