Hi, I'm trying to install Compiz Fusion in xfce4 from the repo http://arch.nesl247.org/compiz-fusion/i686. When I try to install it pacman tries to install all sorts of stuff I don't want in my xfce environment, such as evolution-data-server-1.10.3.1-1, libgnomecanvas, gnome-panel, and a ton of other stuff. This can't be right, can it? Is there some way to get around this? Thanks for any help.

Compiz-fusion has a lot of gnome deps for the GTK decorator. You could always try to compile it yourself without the GTK and KDE decorators.

The compiz-git package itself also has GNOME-related dependencies. I use to build it manually, just remove "control-center" from the dependencies in the PKGBUILD [1], and it will compile with gnome support disabled.

Good luck!

I don't know if the problem still exists or not but you could use "compiz-kde-git" from nesl' repo. once that is installed you can pull the rest of the packages in by installing "compiz-fusion-git". that way there are no gnome deps (gconf however is still needed)
It would be interesting to see which compiz-fusion version (gnome or kde) pulls in more dependencies

ArchLinux (x86_64) w/ kdemod

I actually updated the pkgbuilds today, so both should require less deps.
