Xorg and LCD TV

I have a Samsung LE32R7 LCD TV with a VGA connector which I am trying to use as a monitor.

The manual says that the maximum (and optimal) supported resolution is 1360x768, however when I use this mode the top, left and right edges of the picture get chopped off. That is, the edges of the image are not being displayed on the screen but I can move the mouse cursor "beyond" the edge. I know that there are problems with overscan on TVs but I'm not sure whether this applies to LCD TVs using VGA connections.

The TV doesn't have the ability to manually resize the image, only to auto resize it and move it about.

The lower resolutions listed in the manual work but they are all 4:3 so don't look too good.

Does anyone have any ideas?

try dvi-connector? I've atleast heard that dvi output is MUCH better on linux...

With DVI I get a squished screen. It covers the screen horizonatally but has bigger black lines on the top and bottom than the actual screen size.

I had this working on VGA before I switched to Arch Linux. The way I fixed it was to use the fglrx driver. However, everywhere I look says to do "pacman -S fglrx" but when I do it says that its not found. Plus I've read there is a lot of problems with fglrx on arch.

Anyone know how to fix this? Or maybe know why fglrx isn't in the database for me when it seems to be for everyone else?

fglrx probably isn't in the database because the driver has changed name and is now called catalyst

Thank you! Catalyst installed easily and fixed my problem without having to edit xorg.conf.
