Splashy advise

I saw that splashy is outdated and it doesn't work.

It returned a strange error about a missing dependency but the package exist i had check on repositories... hmm

EDIT: i tried to modify the pkgbuild for splashy 0.3.3 but it returns a critical error so probably i forgot a dependency. hmm

Try fbsplash.  You have to compile your kernel for it, but it works really well.  The easiest way I've found is to just grab he genpatch for fbsplash and use that as a patch on the kernel26 package.  Kernel compliation only takes about 45 minutes on my system, but obviously it varies a lot.

Updated and working as good as it does - You might want to check out here:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 78#p281878

The shutdown screen doesn't work fully (it just appears for a very short time) yet, due to arch's /etc/rc.shutdown calling killall and killing splashy.

a nail that sticks out, is hammered down.
aha.
