Making arrow keys work for Finch

Hi all,
I've been trying to use the CLI alternative to Pidgin, Finch, but I am unable to use the arrow keys to move around, while they are supposed to work. Browsing their wiki, I have found this in the troubleshooting section:

My arrow keys are not working. What can I do?

Make sure there is a correct terminfo setting for your terminal. For example, try setting $TERM to "screen" instead of "screen.linux".

Now, I have tried to read the terminfo man entry, but I'm not sure I understood, also I have tried running the set command and my variable for TERM is xterm-color. Now, I am using urxvt, does that make a difference? I really don't understand what I am supposed to do...
Also trying to run Finch in xterm, not only the arrow keys don't work, the Alt key doesn't either.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for your time smile
