new installation - can only boot with fallback

hi guys

yesterday ive installed arch the first time. i can only boot with the fallback - im using grub 0.97
the "normal" way ive this problem:

...
Waiting 0 s before mounting root device...
kinit: Cannot open root device sda3(8,3)
kinit: init not found!
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

have someone an idea?
