I updated kdebluetooth to 1.0-beta3. The most important changes are:
- kbluetoothd has been replaced by kbluetooth, which is only an applet now
- kbluetooth works as a PIN helper compatible with bluez 3.x dbus interface
- the obex file transfer ioslave has been rewritten
- the obex push client/server is gone for now, it will be re-added in
the future. I hope this happens soon. In the meantime, you will have to
use another push client/server, sorry for that.

I had many problems with this package, had to downgrade to beta 2
obex does not work, I cant right click a file and actions--> send with bluetooth, and more...
Offline
There is no "send with bluetooth" beacuse this beta does not include OBEX Push support. And that basically renders it useless eg. for mobile phone + camera users.

You can still use the obex browser to browse phones. As mentioned in the announcment, the obex push server/client is gone for now. I still thought an update was necessary, because kdebluetooth can now work as a pin helper. You have to stay at the old version if you need the obex push services, I will announce as soon as a new version with is released that fixes this.

I could do without the pin helper (by setting the pin number permanently in hcid.conf), but with 1.0-beta I can do completely nothing at all. Even the advertised dbus pinhelper support doesn't work...
Some other parts keep crashing here all the time, particularly device configuration tool.
In my opinion this should have been put into testing repo, not extra...
EDIT: OK, I got pin helper working. Stil I can't find the way to send anything or receive by oebx.

Dunno if it's supposed to be normal, but... today I synced my Siemens S55 for the first time ever to harddisk with kdebluetooth (Konqueror, sdp://..., selected all dirs, copy, blah) and during the lengthy copy operation the pc speaker was beeping from time to time. So?

well I really think that this upgrade is bad since it broke my bt connettivity at all...
I hope to solve my problems reverting to the previous version if I can find it somewhere...
since the changes in this release are big ( and call it beta2 --> beta3 is a little crazy...) and broke
completely users habits, this package had to be put in testing since it become more usable , like the previous at least
Upgrading just for the number and breaking things is not the way I would like to see in arch..
BTW How you can send file from your phone to your pc?
After pairing devices my phone answers "sending impossible!"

I didnt have the previous version (beta2-2) but I found beta2-1.
(http://phraktured.net/archmirror/extra/ … pkg.tar.gz).
I am using this version and everything fine.
I add kdebluetooth in ignore list and I am waiting for a fix.
Lets hope that the final version will work with no problems.

for me too...thanks for the link. This packages now complains about sdpd not started, but I think
it's not needed anymore as the new versions of hcid _should_ be started with -s option to enable an internal
sdp server.. dunno if arch installation takes care of that...
cheers

The reported bugs should be fixed on beta8. I tested the obex push server and client, they seemed fine.
