Re: [Request] Kickoff

i know kdemod uses it, but i don't like to use unofficial packages, dont get me wrong i have used kdemod and i think it works fine, but a standalone kickoff pkgbuild would be better imho

Re: [Request] Kickoff

I also would like a Kickoff package for the official KDE. Is there any package for it, or any way to install it without problems?

Re: [Request] Kickoff

For all those who want to try, it's page is http://en.opensuse.org/Kickoff and there's a link to a svn at the bottom. I also want a PKGBUILD.

Re: [Request] Kickoff

I agree. Tasty Menu is a bit buggy sometimes, but it's faster and does everything Kickoff does:)

You cant have a standalone kickoff PKGBUILD or package, because kickoff is a patch for KDE's kicker. If you want to create such a package, you will also need a modified kdebase package without the files that the kickoff package will provide, or there will be conflicts.

Here is an old PKGBUILD for a standalone kickoff and the matching kdebase one for reference how to build it. If you want the latest kickoff patches without hassle, go to opensuses factory repo, get their kdebase and kdelibs srpms and extract them with rpmextract.

KDEmod provides a kickoff package... I doubt that this will ever reach the official KDE packages because its very suse-specific, needs more dependencies and is also a sucker to build. Also the source needs to be patched again to get rid of all this hardcoded suse stuff...

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod
