Battery won't charge even if AC adapter is on-line

I recently installed Arch on my R61 Thinkpad. I did not have any problem I couldn't solve until today when I noticed that my battery won't charge anymore.

acpitool's output is:

  Battery #1 : charged, 95.85%
  AC adapter : on-line
  Thermal zone 1 : ok, 48 C
  Thermal zone 2 : ok, 45 C

Battery level will not go higher than this percentage, but will get lower if I unplug the adapter.

I don't know what is the source of this problem.

how old is the battery? how often was it recharged? batteries usually lose capacity over time. try to discharge and recharge it completely.

Re: Battery won't charge even if AC adapter is on-line

My laptop is nearly brand new (I purchased it at the beginning of September).

Is it secure to completely discharge a battery?
