Modprobe.conf and modules.conf

Hi guys,

i was installing lm_sensors for my tyan board and according to their sensors.conf file i had to add some settings to modules.conf (alias char-major-89 i2c-dev). To my surprise there is no modules.conf and modprobe.conf is awfully empty. Did i miss something or are these files obsolete? System seems to do fine without them wink

Re: Modprobe.conf and modules.conf

modules.conf is obsolete, as it was used under 2.4 kernels only. modprobe.conf is the right place for settings like these - if it's empty, that just means you haven't required any such settings so far.

Re: Modprobe.conf and modules.conf

Thank you for the enlightenment. Linux is getting to easy, aaah the good old days where you needed to rebuild modules.conf and modprobe after every kernel update....
