- can i (without poweroff the computer... and arch) just unplug the old one and plugin the new monitor, and turn it on?
- with the new monitor pluged in, how can i configure the xorg? can just run again nvidia-xconfig, or what's the best way?
- how i set the widescreen resolution in the desktop (fluxbox) and in games like doom 3, quake 4?
- any other tips welcome!!!

I have a Samsung 226BW, which is probably almost the same model.... I'm running an nvidia card also, and using 1680x1050 resoultion. The only special thing I had to do was add that specific resoution into my xorg.conf file.
Modes "1680x1050" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

yeah, the only difference in models is that mine dont have DVI input, only VGA...
but for games... what resolution i must choose to dont have the image distorted? do you know?

LCD monitors work perfectly only at one resolution, in your case 1680x1050. About other ones, you should have that x/y = 1,6 and so the pixel should be square. AFAIK only 1680x1050 does not distort..

TNX everyone!
the only thing i dont get clear, is if i have a monitor now, and the monitor comes today, do i need to generate a new xorg for the new monitor? or can i simply add the "modes" line somewhere in my actual xorg?
tnx!!

You can add modes in xorg.conf, but when I ran xorg.conf no modes were added, and the resolution was automatic. So restarting xorg can possible do the trick. If not add the modes under your Screen section.
