hi all,
i did a full system upgrade yesterday, and after that, arch doesn't start..
the error itself:
X: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
any help on this? want to get off of bloated ubuntu

I have the same issue also. Something told me not to reboot but I did because I wanted to use my rt-kernel.
yes, please help because I too have to use Ubuntu-Studio and SuSE's JAD. Both way too bloated and not as fast as Arch..
I tried to fix the xorg.conf but nothing.

maybe not the best place to ask such a question, but is there a way to keep arch not so bleeding edge, but to be able to still get security updates of packages? maybe a different repository that uses more tested packages?

I think that file is a part of the gcc-libs package, which you may need to reinstall.
As far as 'not-so-bleeding-edge, but still security updates', no. There is no official repo for that, and as far as I know, nobody's made such a repo on their own.
