Re: Dwm

I tried that but I get a error when trying to include fibonacci.h in the config.h file... is that another file I must download? and how do I tie in conkyrc and urxvt.

Download the fibonacci patch from the dwm mailinglist/website. For patching follow the directions from the dwm website. I think it's:

patch -p1 < /path/to/file

For urxvt, just add that to your config.h @ the binding section.

Re: Dwm

Okay sweet... now each time you change something in dwm you have to recompile it correct? When I do that would I have to uninstall and reinstall it or just recompile over it?

Yeah you have to recompile each time you want to make a change, which sucks and is whay i moved to ion3.
just run in your dwm directory:

sudo make clean install

This will,as you know intstall dwm to /usr/local/bin, unless you chnaged that.

Re: Dwm

When you use abs, make a /var/abs/local and put a local copy of dwm there. Then edit the PKGCONFIG to have the patch applied before compiling

honestly i would just download the source from the website. It's easier to maintain. Or if you want i can give you my tarball, with a buch of patches already applied.

I like ion3 much better... big_smile

Are you using my configs and stuff? Because it compiles fine for me. Otherwise post your config.h

Re: Dwm

Post configs to a pastebin if you can,  http://pastebin.archlinux.org/

Keeps the threads tidy and preseves formatting. Syntax colouring also smile

Any ideas?

first of all, declare NMASTER in your config.h, like:

NMASTER = 1

As far as the config.h warning, I do not know. but I think it should still compile

Re: Dwm

Figured that one out like two mins before you posted... but thanks! ...but still no compiling. Now I'm getting

event.c: In function keypress
event.c:254: error: stray \ in program
event.c: In function grabkeys
event.c:358: error: stray \ in program

now the only thing I've changed is config.h. Would this error be in event.c or the config.h?

Re: Dwm

Correct me if I'm wrong (no dwm user anymore), but I think event.h sources config.h and actually says something like "struct KEYS" where KEYS is defined in config.h.
So you probably have one line in that big struct thing that doesn't end with '\' (even if it's a comment) so the compiler doesn't know that it continues on the next line.

Re: Dwm

number3, why dont you upgrade to dwm 4.5. all sources are in two files, config.h and dwm.c. much easier to figure these issues out.
