Totem 2.20 is built with all possible plugins we have the dependencies for AFAIK, you just need the packages for support installed (install lirc-utils to get lirc available in totem, same for bluez and some others).
About the mozilla plugin: the plugin has two parts: the mozilla plugin itself and a helper application that shows your movie inside the plugin window. The plugin is in totem-plugin and is generic for totem and totem-xine. The viewer differs per totem engine and is contained in the totem package itself. That's why we build with mozilla support and purge the plugin part.
For the gnome-volume-manager bug: that one is fixed, it was the is_local check that always returns false nowadays.

I have problems with esd (?) and system sounds in general. No login sound in Gnome, but logout sound! Mail-Notification sound gets choked and system sounds and sound in gnometris are muffled.
Tried to downgrade esd, which helped on my p4 with former gnome, but on this amd64 that remedy fails to fix the problem with 2.20 . I have tried with both esd and alsa in sound server setup.

esound and gstreamer have nothing to do with GNOME 2.20, I didn't touch those parts.

Is there an easy way to upgrade only gnome from testing repo? I don't want to upgrade some other packages and I also don't want to waste my time adding packages name to pacman.conf which will be ignored
Edit: Mozilla based applications still crashes using gtk-pixmap engine.

I've got problems playing music with Rhythmbox. I'm using oss-linux from AUR and Rhythmbox plays everything but with lot's of noise. Totem plays just fine without any noises.
When I disable oss-linux and use alsa, Rhythmbox plays also fine, even with alsas oss emulation.
Ok, problem is gone, as I enabled crossfading in Rhythmbox's playback option. Now everything sounds crytal clear.
But I have another question, is Nautilus compiled with tracker support? How can I enable it?

Ok. Then it has to be that eternal esd bug to blame. But the esd problem reappeared for me, though, with the upgrade to gnome 2.20 from testing.

Hi,
I just upgraded to Gnome 2.20 and everything works very well. Stability doesn't seem an issue at all so far.
However I noticed the fonts *inside* Firefox have changed (they look smaller). Is this related to Gnome or maybe the other updates in testing? (xorg?)
Edit: Ignore the post, just the default font dpi changed to 86 from 96 for some reason after the update.

I also upgraded to gnome 2.20 and have just one little problem. If i start the "Apperance"-tool, i get the following message:
Should mean something like:
Application crashed. Information to the program crash was successfully determined.
We however still work on the GNOME-Debug-Server, so that it can process the information correctly.
But the thing works, it just shows this anoying dialog.
Thanks for your work so far
Ok, found the problem: After I removed kdemod-gtk-qt-engine it works like a charm.

The failing java is because bug-buddy installs a debug handler. Java is not designed to work with a debugger, it generates internal segfaults for signal handling or so, which causes GDB or google breakpad to catch the signal and fire up bug-buddy.
Start your applications with something like this:
GTK_MODULES="${GTK_MODULES/gnomebreakpad/}" [yourjavaprogram] and they should work. Other option is to use gcj which is designed to run with gdb.

I have updated to gnome 2.20 package by package with
# pacman -S testing/gnome-desktop
# pacman -S testing/nautilus
...
all seem to work for me :gimp-2.4-rc3, firefox, gnome-appearance-properties, totem ...

I've updated to 2.20 and I've got a problem with Java. I'm not sure if it's entirely Gnome's fault, but here it is : I've made a small program to test the system tray functionality added in Java 6. First, Java reports that I'm not having any system tray support. Second, Eclipse now randomly crashes with this error :
#
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb4d8d123, pid=7318, tid=3084241808
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.6.0_02-b05 mixed mode, sharing)
# Problematic frame:
# C [libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0+0x222123] gtk_tooltips_set_tip+0x1d3
#
# An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid7318.log
#
# If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:
#
I also get this error popping up :
JVM terminated. Exit code=1
/opt/java/bin/java
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar /opt/eclipse/startup.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-launcher /opt/eclipse/eclipse
-name Eclipse
-showsplash 600
-exitdata 23800c
-vm /opt/java/bin/java
-vmargs
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar /opt/eclipse/startup.jar
I could not get the system tray to work before installing Gnome 2.20 (I was using XFCE), but Eclipse never crashed like that before...
Thanks,
Rognon

@Rognon: what version of GTK2 do you have? This bug was supposed to be fixed in 2.12.0

Ok, seems it's known:"

With 2.19 Metacity's composite manager worked just fine, I can not get it to work with 2.20.
Offline
I removed the libcm dependency and the compositor because libcm links to symbols not available in the nvidia drivers and the compositor is experimental anyways.

When I hover over the volume icon and use my scrollwheel to change volume, the popup tooltips (with the volume percentage in them) seem to popup underneath each other some times. That is, if I scroll up from 48%, it will still read 48%, unless I pull my mouse away, in which case the tooltip underneath shows for a brief moment, revealing that the volume is indeed at 52%. This happens a lot.

Is gnomeprint no longer included in this release? I have no way to add a printer to my system. The packages available all seem to be old.
testing/libgnomeprint 2.18.2-1
Printing routines for GNOME
testing/libgnomeprintui 2.18.1-1

luciferin, you should use the cups server html interface to add a printer.
Offline
luciferin, it could just be that they did not get updated in 2.20, not every package has changes between versions of gnome.
Offline
Is this the new method for Gnome? Did they drop the printui packages or is it just unsupported in this release?
nesl: Maybe, there is no gnome-print anywhere as far as I can see though. I've tried launching it from the command line but there's nothing in /usr/bin for gnome-print or gnome-printer.

Is it normal that I can't have the native Java API System Tray support working with this version of gnome ? I have not tried with previous versions, but according to what I've read, it should work correctly.
Thanks,
Rognon

I don't know much about this stuff. But I don't remember ever having a /usr/bin/gnome-print with previous versions. From the name, libgnomeprint* suggests it is only a library. Also as far as I think, many gnome projects will eventually move to gtk-print api.
