new project ideas - WiMAX mac80216

Just recently i got this crazy idea. Since there exists a mac80211 project, aiming on providing implementation of 802.11 MAC for the kernel, why not start mac80216, an implementation of WiMAX 802.16d (at least for start) for Linux. The concept would be identical to mac80211, that is only a MAC and a bunch of structures that need to be filled by card driver. Since I used to do it professionally, it may be easier to start with subscriber station (SS), as there is less functionality to be implemented. Still it may happen that the kernel driver will need to be accompanied by some userspace manager.
The specs for 802.16d (2004) are publicly available at IEEE website.
I'd be happy to know your opinions on this.

PS. don't know how it fits within nokia tablet context, as it is expected to ship with WiMAX support
