If you've had networking problems using VMware with kernel 2.6.22, ...
If you, like me, have been trying in vain to get wireless networking to function under VMware with host kernel 2.6.22.x, you may want to check out a very helpful patch that's posted here:

A pre-patched vmnet.tar for VMware Workstation for Linux 6.0.1 is linked in this same post.
I know a lot of Arch people fool around with VMware and also like to use current kernels, so this may be a big help to you. It was to me. I had been forced to stick with kernel 2.6.20 or so, which was a drag since I had wanted to try out SLUB allocation.
Thanks, funderburg (from linuxquestions.org), who posted the patch, daguerre (from communities.vmware.com) who told me about it and Hauke-m (ditto), who adapted the patch for wired networking and posted a pre-patched vmnet.tar. This problem was frustrating a bunch of people.

I've been having loads of trouble with VMWare 6.0.1 and networking- even wired bridged connections.
It does not matter if I use the vmnet patch or not: 2.6.2X Linux guests freeze randomly (host works OK), factly I wasn't even able to finish one single netinstall of Arch or any other 2.6.2X guest using 6.0.1.
Build 45731 works mighty fine instead...
