I have been working a full day to get all my program permissions sorted out in KDE, but I can not get Jacman to work. Of course I can not do anything with pacman unless I have root permissions, but how do I give Jacman root permissions without actually logging into KDE as root? I certainly want to be able to use Jacman from within my regular user.
Thanks!

You can configure a new link to application by right clicking on your KDE desktop. create new/link to appliaction. Click on the application tab and make the application command "kdesu jacman".

Thanks! I knew there had to be some sort of extra command I could put with the "jacman" so that it would be given root permissions, but I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked!

I think Jacman is great, but when I try to install any file, I get a console output window asking me if it's ok to install these packages. I can't click "Yes" or "No," actually I can't click any button. I have tried just pressing "Y" but that, of course, doesent work. The program seems to lock up.
I am using Gnome 2.18 and would really like to use Jacman. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I usually start the program from the command-line as root.
Thanks!

Yes, I notice the same problem. This occurs when trying to install or uninstall a program. Jacman will sometimes install or uninstall something correctly, but most of the time it gives that dead screen. As far as I know it is an error in the program. Therefore, I use Jacman to look at all of my installed packages or all of my available packages but then install or uninstall them with Pacman through the terminal. You might try some other front ends for Pacman. I have not had the time to check them out yet.
