gnome won't start

i recently switched over to arch and tried to install kde. well, i got a kdeinit error and was told there was a bug in kde that should be fixed in a few days. so i went ahead and gave gnome a shot. everything installed fine, but i can't get gnome to start. i get a shared lib error for libssl.so.0.9.7 no such file or directory. anyone know what this error is about?

Re: gnome won't start

$pacman -S openssl

should fix it, must be an incorrect dependency somewhere.

Re: gnome won't start

Did installed openssl solve the library dependency error? Could you post the exact error you are getting now?

How are you starting up gnome (using .xinitrc, add gdm to the daemons in rc.conf, or modified inittab)?

By which process did you install gnome? Was it pacman -S gnome gnome-extra? Or did you do each package by hand.

Post any other information you could think off that makes your system unique and I'll try and help.
