xfce window placement[SOLVED]

I have searched the forums and google for this (maybe im not searching right) but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm using xfce4 and was wondering how I could change the windows from opening in the center of the  screen. I have played w/ several window snapping options in xfce but no luck. The main reason I want to change this is because I don't want my terminals opening up on top of each other.
Anyone got an idea how I can change where my terminal windows open in xfce?
Thanks for any help.
btw.. Loving Arch!! smile

Re: xfce window placement[SOLVED]

Adjust the "Minimum size of windows to trigger smart placement" slider under Settings -> Window Manager Tweaks -> Placement (tab)

Re: xfce window placement[SOLVED]

I would also be interested to know how this is done.

I'm using Gnome with Openbox but it seems like application windows re-appear in the placement they were in when they last terminated successfully (i.e. a non-crash).  It would be good to know how to "tile" windows, so to speak, on startup so that there's little to no desktop space between them.

Re: xfce window placement[SOLVED]

I think there are per-application special options available for OpenBox, so you can set the size and the position of every application you wish (even though I have never tried them). Not really a tiling thing, but it might do the trick, otherwise I suggest you to use some tiling WM, like ratpoison (the most flexible in my opinion).

Indeed, OB per application settings are worth checking out, they are quite powerful.  More info here: http://icculus.org/openbox/index.php/Help:Applications
