my DVD burner isn't recognise, i couldn't mount my ntfs partition

is recognize as DVD reader only
i'm afraid is a problem just with the fstab
this is

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd udf ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/fd0 vfat user,noauto 0 0
/dev/sda2 / ext3 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda3 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sdb1 /media/sdb1 ext3 auto,users,rw 0 0

my another problem is with the nfts partiotion
i created the folder /media/sda1, and i mouted it with this parameters

/dev/hda1 /media/hda1 ntfs defaults,nls=utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1

but then i had the problem of
file mounting system busy, wich i solved removing the line on my fstab
well, that's all
thanks

Did you mean /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/hda1 ?

I would also mount it under /mnt/sda1 instead of /media/sda1 because /media/ stuff seams to be mounted by other stuff automatically...

mmmm
now that you said, i remember that i corrected only /media/hda1 instead of /media/sda1 ...
that should be...

the other point, what about the DVD burner
i have a Nec ND 2500N A, wich always was detected by any linux distro
what should i do?

about the DVD problem:  try commenting out all the CD/DVD entries from fstab and just letting hal handle mounting and unmounting.  in order for hal to work properly your user should be in optical, floppy, and storage groups.

Re: my DVD burner isn't recognise, i couldn't mount my ntfs partition

the burner is ok now
just the windows partition gives me problems
with this fstab line

/dev/sda1 /media/sda1 ntfs auto,nls=utf8,ro 0 0

but i can't access to it, cause   i don't have the permissions
the disc now at least is mounted, that's something
what do i do now?

Re: my DVD burner isn't recognise, i couldn't mount my ntfs partition

Wiki tends to have very good answers to general questions such as mounting ntfs partitions with write support.  It generally explains things more comprehensively and more clearly than what could be expected of ad-hoc posts on the forum.
