Install problem with 2007-8.2

I get this problem just before I get to the stage where you install the kernel - I can't select install kernel because the screen is garbled.  Admittedly it's the first time I've tried to install arch on this laptop (a Dell Latitude D630) so I can't say 'it used to work', but any ideas on how to proceed - a photo of my screen is linked below - look closely at the menu, it just repeats itself.

Yeah, but all is ok, if you see the message the kernel installed correctly, now the kernel is installed with all the packages. And when you edit rc.conf it gets reinstalled. So the garbled screen, is just an annoyance, not a real showstopper bug.

Re: Install problem with 2007-8.2

I didn't realise it had automatically gone on to install the kernel - is this a new behaviour in 2007-8.2 because I definitely remember choosing a kernel on previous arch installs - I was following the beginners guide for reference:

Finally, set a root password and make sure that you remember it later. Return to the main menu and continue with installing a kernel.

Install Kernel
Not many choices here; choose v2.6 and continue. You may want to switch your kernel later. A fallback image will be created, keeping mkinitcpio as it is shown as a safe choice. Continue with installing a bootloader.

In which case a wiki update will be necessary...

I came up against a problem that it cannot detect my hard driver correctly!
I think it's the new veresion's fault!
