Multihead problem[solved]

Hi community,

i am new on Linux and now trying to set up a 2 monitor system. I use these components: MSI NX8600GT-T2D256EZ , LG Flatron L226WTQ-SF and Vobis TFT17 780 . Each monitor works fine by itself, but i don't get both working at the same time (I want to use Xinerama in Gnome). I tried some tutorials to make it work, but with no success so far. The second monitor just shows "No Signal". Do i have to do any configurations except the ones in xorg.conf? Here is my xorg.conf :

Thank you very much, pooflinger. Now both monitors are working fine. The only thing i want to change is, that the monitors should be treated separately, not as "One Big Monitor" (i.e. if i maximize Firefox, it should just fill out the screen where it's just in, not both). Also, i don't want the whole workspace to be separated, i want one Monitor as my normal workspace and the second one to open a browser, a pdf or whatever simultaneous (so i.e. i can open a tutorial on the smaller screen while working on the main screen). The NVidia tutorial didn't say anything about that (or i didn't understand it). Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible and probably the most common setup. I use it too. Here's my xorg.conf:

As you can see from the top, it was "generated by nvidia-xconfig" which is a runnable thing. Note that this is NOT xinerama but nVidias "TwinView" that does exactly what you want it to. Xinerama, I think, regards your displays as one. If you want to take it even further, you can run two X instances that are "unaware" of one another, only the mouse can move between them.

See with your manufacturer which are your "HorizSync" and "VertRefresh".
