corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

I get this message everytime I try to upgrade

"checking package integrity...
:: Archive openoffice-base-2.3.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted. Do you want to delete it? [Y/n] n
error: failed to commit transaction (corrupted package)
archive openoffice-base-2.3.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted (bad MD5 or SHA1 checksum)

errors occurred, no packages were upgraded."

Even after deleting it and redownloading 3 times. So I decided to keep the package. How do I make pacman ignore md5 sum checks. i am sure this is a problem in the repo.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

A freshly downloaded copy from an up-to-date mirror still fails the integrity check.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

I just installed the new package and it seems to install without error and run fine. I may be using a different mirror, but chances are the new package should start working OK soon for everyone else.

this is the working one and should be synced soon to all mirrors. you should clean the old corrupt pkg from /var/cache/pacman/pkg/.
i don't want to upload another pkg -1.1 until it's not absolutely necessary.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

I was going down the list of U.S. mirrors and finally this one worked.
Server = ftp://ftp.nethat.com/pub/linux/archlinu … /os/x86_64

These two gave a pkg corruption error.
Server = ftp://locke.suu.edu/linux/dist/archlinu … /os/x86_64
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/x86_64

I don't know about the others.

Edit:
Out of curiosity I downloaded the i686 version of openoffice to my 32bit chroot env with no problems using mirror...
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686

I guess the corrupted pkg was/is only with x86_64
Anyway, sounds like this will be resolved soon. Thanks Andy! smile

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

if the problem persists, you may try using wget in the Xfer* command in /etc/pacman.conf .. i sometimes have this issue if i download from a North American mirror .. network issue i guess

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

Yesterday I made a system upgrade and there was a pacman upgrade. After the upgrade when I run pacman -Syu I got the same error ... a bunch of upgrades where available and then the message:
"errors occurred, no packages were upgraded."

On closer inspection I realized the previous upgrade of pacman had a message indicating some changes to pacman and I updated from community to core in my pacman packages sources in /etc/pacman.conf then everything worked just fine.

Perhaps that's your problem?

R.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

I had the same problem with OpenOffice! I686 was OK from the beginning.
Today it finally worked on my notebook, so I tried my company computer again and it failed again!?!! I realised that the notebook used another server, so I tried using another server in the company and it worked!!! Archlinux.org has a corrupt pkg, easynews.com was OK.

@anespo: Can you start OOo? I think not. In the corrupted package, there is missing the binary soffice.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

Why did you answer "no" when pacman asks you if the corrupted package should be deleted?

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

Why doesn't pacman delete it automagically? The package _should not be usable either way.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

Pacman delete corrupted package from /var/cache/pacman/pkg, but then is correct package only in ftp://ftp.archlinux.org  (reloaded by developer or maintainer) ? Other mirrors have corrupted openoffice-base package (?). I download with pacman -Syu (and manual delete broken package from /var/cache/pacman/pkg) last 3 days 3-4x but for ever same corrupted package.

Mirror can't sync with main FTP, when same package is reloaded to FTP?? And is in main server good package (not corrupted)?

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

The problem is some weird stuff in rsync. As the filename of the corrupted and the new fixed package are the same, many mirrors won't sync the new version, thus the package remains broken.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

But why do those mirrors sync the package db? Its name stay allways the same, too.

Re: corrupted package openoffice-base 2.3.0

There have been alot of corrupt packages recently:  a pacman -Syu today resulted in 500+ MB package update of which 10 to 15 packages had incorrect md5sums and had to be deleted.

Apart from a few mentions of specific packages (eg this thread), there don't appear to be that many users affected - is that because only a few mirrors are causing the problem?
