Re: [solved] gnome update issue!

Is there a specific error you are getting?
Have you rebooted yet?

Re: [solved] gnome update issue!

Exactly the same problem here. Lots of weird stuff going on. Also did the new user trick and I have booted twice.

Executing "gnome-control-center" from terminal comes up with "failure loading - gnomecc.menu".

2.18 -> 2.20

Re: [solved] gnome update issue!

I don't have those issues -- and I think it was mentioned that it has something to do with some of the gtk themese and to try changing those.  I am having something odd though.  When I switch desktops it takes the machine a few seconds to redraw the icons on the desktop.  Any clues as to what's going on there?  I'm using "murrine" if that matters.

I have no way to access the gnome theme switcher thingy because the menus don't work.

Re: [solved] gnome update issue!

chmod -x /etc/profile.d/kde.*

Worked for me.

Thanks, vvard.

Re: [solved] gnome update issue!

This is what fixed it for me:

cp /etc/xdg/menus ~/.config
