Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

Who cares that it's demo? I played Enemy Territory demo for months in the Internet. That was the best multiplayer game ever.

Downloading at full speed, awesome!. If I like the demo then I'll buy the game. I'm really more interested in Unreal Tournament 3 which is due to release a demo for Linux real soon.

Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

I downloaded ETQW . Then I tried to start the file but nothing happens because of the following error:

[fabian@Krautwurst ~]$ Desktop/ETQW-demo-client-1.1-full.r5.x86.run
bash: Desktop/ETQW-demo-client-1.1-full.r5.x86.run: Keine Berechtigung

.. which means something like "permission denied"... as root I get the same error.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

I haven't played many games in the past couple of years, but I picked up the Windows version of this one last week and I LOVE IT! I'm downloading the linux demo now and will definitely buy a copy of the full version just to avoid rebooting to windows. I've been playing as MexicanSquirrel if anyone is interested in fragging me smile

Awsome -- just played a bit of the linux demo and it runs at least as well as the windows version. Can't wait for the full release! cool

Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

Would run better than the Windows version if you compile your kernel with Low-Latency and 1000hz options. wink

No need, you use the windows disk with the linux client once it gets released. wink

That's good to hear. I was hoping that might be how it worked but thought it might just be too good to be true!

Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

Yeah!, is awesome news. Although I see it as a bad thing as well,  because it wasn't tested enough, so I guess I won't buy this game, until the Linux client proves to be solid. Is important for us the non-windows users.

PKGBUILD for the retail game:

Official Linux Client Homepage: http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/etqw/

I have played quite a bit and did not experience any problems whatsoever. GoGamer.com is currently having a sale on ET:QW. I actually bought this game and others from this site before, no worries. This is the "international" version, but by all accounts it's the same as the US version. The front flap of the box is held together by magnets, so I think it's actually better smile Besides, all you need is some pk4 files off the DVD and a valid Key to play online. Here is a link: http://www.gogamer.com/Enemy-Territory- … ewprod.htm

Support Linux gaming!

EDIT: For new players, this site may help: http://4newbies.planetwolfenstein.games … elcome.php

Man, I really need to set some time aside to figure out what's going on in these maps; definitely more involved than the 1st one.

Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

From the testimonies off of the ETQW boards, it sounds like you get better performance in WINE than the native port.  That kind of sucks.

Re: Enemy Territory Quake Worlds for Linux available!

Really?  I get awesome performance from the native one as it is; although I was surprised when I originally ran the demo that my 8400m gs could keep a steady frame-rate.  But I'll have to test it out through wine now to see if it's even better that way.  And if it is... I'm sure they'll attempt to patch something relevant to that. (LQTM'ing at the concept of the next patch just them releasing the windows client, compiled using winelib smile )
