Compiz-fusion (from nesl repo) works great on gnome, but when trying to start in kdemod I get:
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5c
compiz (core) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0
(+ my keyboard locks up too) ![]()
I have the kdemod base install and have grabbed the compiz-kde-git stuff too.
Any ideas what might be going wrong? ![]()

Do you happen to have an ATI card by any chance?
Try this : http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Com … ion_on_ATI

Nope - its a good ol' intel.

I was going fine with kdemod + compiz-fusion + intel, as long as I specified LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 as mentioned on the Arch wiki page (I think I read it elsewhere it might be necessary for the intel driver). Just not using compiz at the moment due to figuring out a problem with virtualbox and its seamless windowing mode.

That fixed it!
Thanks Badger.

Good to hear, happily I've re-found where I read it: on the compiz-fusion wiki http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Troubleshooting , and I've added a line to the http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Com … d_solution page.
You might want to amend the thread title to include "solved".
cheers
