hi
today amarok crashed and took gnome with him, so i didnt know what to do except restart gdm with ctrl-alt-backspace.
my problem is now, that after this hard restart of gdm neary the whole EXTRA folder mentioned in the topic is gone.
everything till devilspie is gone, that means that pacman cant upgrade anything till i manually rewrote all of the apps again.
my question is now, is there anything i can do to automaticly check my system for installed apps and get my precious folders back?
i dont got any blank cd's here so i actually cant reinstall Arch again now.

That folder replaces itself every -Sy. The only folder to watch out for is /var/lib/pacman/local/
In essence, you're fine

local is still completly there.
but still, i cant -Su if there are missing entrys in extra, it isnt replacing itself at all with -Sy.

Hi
You could try pacman -Syy
This forces pacman to synchronize - even if the repo wasn't updated

i will try it the next time, for now, a friend 'borrowed' his folder to me^^
pacman works now, and i hope that that evil gnome2.20 isnt that buggy anymore as my friend reportet it to me
