mplayer & IVTV

I recently installed teh 64 bit Archlinux on my amd64 desktop. Everything was working fine until recently and now  I can't watch TV anymore. I use mplayer to watch TV. I simply run mplayer /dev/v4l/video0 and if I have to change channels I just use ivtv-tune --channel =<CHANNEL NUMBER>. Now When i run I see the following error and mplayer does not start. is this a ivtv problem or mplayer problem.

# mplayer /dev/v4l/video0

MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.2.1 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team

mplayer: No such file or directory

Playing /dev/v4l/video0.

Also I think the ivtv module is working fine here is the output from dmesg

dmesg |grep ivtv

ivtv:  ==================== START INIT IVTV ====================

ivtv0: Initialized Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250, card #0
ivtv:  ====================  END INIT IVTV  ====================

I also tried the cat command and view it with another program like vlc. But the video file seems corrupted.

cat /dev/v4/video0 > test.mpg

Thanks for you help.
