I recently found an old used sharp zaurus sl5500 pda, After over a week of searching the net I finaly was able to get it to sync with kde-pim and evolution. (doing my happy dance now)
when I want to sync I have to open a terminal window and type the commands:
sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 up
sudo route add -host 192.168.129.201 usb0
Then it syncs using kitchensync or multisync with no problem. My question is, is there a way to have these commands loaded automagicaly when I place the pda in the cradle instead of having to type it in every time i try to sync?
Thank for your help

Just curious, what are you running on your zaurus? My brother gave me one and I wouldn't mind getting it up and running again.

i am running the last release (last as in final there will be no more) open zaurus. It looks like Angstrom is what all the open zuarus developers have moved too. much more complicated to install and i have not been able to get Angstrom working yet.
for open zaurus what I did was down load the zImage 32 32 http://www.openzaurus.org/download/3.5.4/images/collie/ from there and down load the opie image (opie-image-3.5.4-collie.initrd.bin) transfer them both over to a compact flash card then rename zImage-32-32 to zImage and rename the opie image to initrd.bin.
Make sure the zaurus is plugged in then put the card in the zaurus and while holding down the c & d keys press the reset button (located under the battery cover)
if you did it right both the battery and mail lights should go on after releasing the c & d keys. they should stay on for a couple minutes. When they go off press the reset button again, replace the battery cover and make sure the cover is in the locked position. turn it on (i usually have to hold the on buttom down for a few seconds)
that should get you up and running

Thanks. Open zaurus is what I was running. I think I had an older version, I'll have to try the last one, and try syncing it with kde-pim and evolution. It would make it worth using again.
Thanks again!
