xfce4.2, when we get arch packages of it?

I can't wait for new xfce4.2, it seems so nice, and I am lazy, ha ha, so I expect arch official packages will come out soon. Thank arch's package developers and maintainers.

xfce 4.2 isn't out yet. It's the development version. In the webpage tells that there's new info about what new stuff it will have, but it says that they don't know when it'll be ready.

I am too eager to get it, ha ha. However, how about add a package dev repository for some people like me, who can't wait to test unstable applications.

Build it yourself. To much work for the mantainers to keep your system bleeding edge. Why don't you build it from cvs daily? tongue

How to write a PKGBUILD if I install from CVS? Is that difficult or time consuming? If so, I've better forget it.

Here is a wikki page that might help:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The … guidelines

I don't know if you'll find this difficult or not but like anything, it gets easier the more you do it.

Basically, give it a try and find out how hard it is. smile  Better to try and fail than not try and wonder if you would have succeeded. wink

Re: xfce4.2, when we get arch packages of it?

I certainly like ABS, and have use it building several packages, of course with PKGBUILD which I write according your guide. I have to say it's really not so hard, instead I will call it quite simple thing except some really weired applications, but I never have tried to use ABS to build a package from cvs. Does it work if the line is like:
cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs@cvs.xfce.org:/cvsroot/xfce co modulename
Ha ha, thank you everyone, I now think the best way to tell if it works is to try it firstly, I will try then I will know.
Thanks again.

Re: xfce4.2, when we get arch packages of it?

there is likely a few packages still remaining that are cvs packages (due to the fact that that is the only "version" available) but i cannot remember which.

Re: xfce4.2, when we get arch packages of it?

pacman -Ss cvs

shows this package as well as packages for CVS tools:

unstable/waimea-cvs 20030308-1
CVS version of the waimea WM.

The PKGBUILD is available here.

I'd also like to mention tehdely's GNUstep repo which has quite a few packages built from cvs. His PKGBUILDs are here.

Good luck packaging!
