Audacious and .wav files? - actually issue with Thunar file manager

Is anyone able to play .wav files in Audacious?  I have the 'sndfile WAV plugin' enabled, and there's nothing wrong with my .wav files as they play fine in MPlayer, but I really don't like MPlayer for audio files.  I don't see any forum posts on this, so is it really just me?  Thanks.

EDIT
Actually, I just discovered that .wav files play in Audacious when I load them from within Audacious.  The issue I am having is when I click on a .wav file from within the xfce Thunar file manager.  When I try to open a .wav file using Audacious from within Thunar, I get an error message telling me to check the permissions and to make sure I have the needed plugins, but this does not happen when doing the same with mp3, ogg, or aac files.  And as mentioned above, .wav files open fine into MPlayer when selected from Thunar.  What a weird issue to have!
