HPLIP problem: Cannot find command hp-setup

Hi!  I am new to ArchLinux, having been an Ubuntu user for about a year.  I installed 08-2 i686 and kdemod on a Compaq v6110us laptop.  My only problem seems to be running HPLIP to set up my printer.  I get through all the prompts but when I click on the final "OK" which should result in a test page, I get a kde error box that says "Could not find command hp-setup"  which is interesting, because I can see that hp-setup exists as a link in usr/bin.. to a .py file, and hp-setup had to be running to ask me all the questions I got (I get the same screens/prompts if I start hp-setup from the command line, including the error message at the end).  Does anyone know what might be happening, or what I need to do?

Thanks!

Re: HPLIP problem: Cannot find command hp-setup

hp-setup must be run as root, are you trying as normal user?

Re: HPLIP problem: Cannot find command hp-setup

When I run hplip as regular user, it asks for root password, then goes through the whole process before displaying the kde error dialog box.  Running hp-setup as root from terminal gets me this output:

python: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/libkutils.so.1: undefined symbol:  _ZN7
