Dell 700m suspend to ram problem after kernel update

After updating my system yesterday (including the kernel update) my laptop is having a strange problem waking up from suspend to ram.  Upon closing the laptop lid, it seems to suspend normally, but after waking it back up I start to get strange errors.  For example, trying to get a directory listing in a terminal gives me;

bash: /bin/ls: No such file or directory

Nothing else will run, the system quickly locks up and I have to do a hard reboot.  Suspend was working fine before the updates.
The laptop is a Dell 700m, 1.6Ghz Pentium M.  I'm running KDE-mod w/ klaptop handling the suspend function.
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
