I had the same problem today, it helped switching to another repo server. I changed to the third german server, can't recall the name though at the moment. Worked fine afterwords.
EDIT: Using: (for extras) all other configure to use the same server for core/community etc.
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinuxppc.org/i686/extra/os/x86_64

I'm not a programer at all, so surfing through the bug lists bring me nothing.
I'll try the solution from Nihathrael
@stonecrest -- thankx anyway!

Which mirror were you using, and which one are you using now?
Is the segfault 100% reproducible with the old mirror?
pacman roulette : pacman -S $(pacman -Slq | LANG=C sort -R | head -n $((RANDOM % 10)))

I was using the tu-chemnitz server befor (1st german mirror), it seemed not to be quite as updated as the new one, couse pacman found lots of updates after i changed the mirror.

What about my second question, is it 100 % reproducible?
I just enabled this server, it seems a bit outdated indeed, but I started downloading several packages from it and everything went fine.
