I instaled fluxbox and now I can start fluxbox using startx. I also generated menu using "fluxbox-generate_menu" but now as soon as I start applications like firefox, rox, opera, fluxbox dies and leaves me in console with differnt error messages for different clients and that the app has lost connection with xserver. However, few applications like aterm, gmplayer, starts up fine.

Wow! They still haven't fixed those bugs! I had to stop using fluxbox because of those crashes starting firefox. Can you relate it to gtk2 apps in particular?

I had the same problem, but I found out that using en_DK.UTF-8 in /etc/locale.gen caused this, and fluxbox is now working fully again after I switched back to en_US.UTF-8.

so with fluxbox, one is not able to use desired locale.

For Christ's sake, then remove this version from the stable repo... I installed Arch yesterday after roaming in the Vista/Ubuntu world for a year or so - thought of getting back to fluxbox and the locale causes random Xserver shutdowns And pretty please don't be a troll with:
1. change your locale
2. use another wm
