Hi,

So I'm recieving a error everytime I boot into the kernel, and I've been having this ever since 2.6.23 came out.

The error is

ata3:comreset failed (errno=880)
ata4:comreset failed (errno=880)

any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: kernel 2.6.23 error

tpowa, I'm guessing there isn't any work around to this, other then hacking the kernel code and fixing it?

Re: kernel 2.6.23 error

well you could step back using ide-legacy.
means you need to change initramdisk and fstab, bootloader entries to old hdX scheme from sdX scheme
a bit complicated and well prepared step, else your system is unbootable

Re: kernel 2.6.23 error

ok, so I reinstalled arch using 'arch ide-legacy', but after I try to boot into arch I get the same error. So I think there's something really wrong with the kernel.

Re: kernel 2.6.23 error

well if you have no ide drives in the pc stepping back to ide-legacy makes no sesne,
you didn't posted the module that causes the problem, if's a sata module and you have sata drives ide-legacy will have no effect.
