gnomemod?

This may seem like a goofy idea, but is there anybody else that would like to see this?

If this ever came to be, I would be all over it. tongue

Re: gnomemod?

I don't get it... isn't the point of kdemod to split the large kde packages into their components.  GNOME is already like this.

Re: gnomemod?

well I just meant that there could be a customized gnome that included all the bells and whistles. I wasn't really talking about splitting up any packages, just all the bling bling.

Re: gnomemod?

If its all about the bling, just try it. Get some source packages from bigger distros, extract the distro-agnostic (thats the right word?) patches and there you are... Why taking patches from the big ones? Because its a good start, they are already tested and you can also see how to apply all this stuff...

But... If you take a look at the list located here (Scroll down to the Installing Gnome section), this could be an adventurous journey. My respect to the Arch Gnome maintainers for getting it done...

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

Re: gnomemod?

I don't see it as much as kde-mod, more like gnome-bling, and btw, I find most distro-added bling into gnome pretty sucky but I guess I'd use one or two mods so go for it (I might help with the pkgbuilds even... if I find something interesting somewhere) all you need to do is to make, for example a gnome-session-bling package and put gnome-session both in provides and conflicts and look for a repo somewhere.

Re: gnomemod?

Personally, I've always liked the shutdown box/menu thing that Ubuntu has.  I dunknow what this is or how to add it.  I've seached around before, but I think I've not known the exact phrase to enter.  Mint has their desktop upload option that's very nice and handy, some of these would be GREAT additions to gnome.
