Vim tabs vs Buffer explorer

I have been noticing that ppl use buffer explorer, and I wanted to get an optimal vim work space. Trying it out I notice it does not give any more functionality than tabs?

Why use buffer explorer when you have tabs? Is there something I have missed?

Re: Vim tabs vs Buffer explorer

I'd say is depends on a couple of personal preferences.  Perhaps you don't want to have to memorize the tab control keys, you don't want the tabs taking up space either in the GUI or in the terminal, or you just have too many buffers and you can't see all the tabs at once.  Buffer Explorer also allows you to easily change the way the list is sorted, if you show relative or absolute paths, etc.  I hardly ever use tabs, but they do have the advantage of remembering window splits and configurations if you have multiple files displayed in each tab.  It all just depends on how you work, I guess...:P
