Yes indeed! Changing the arch from a romanesque(ish) to a gothic gives the cutting-edginess which thayer has argued (convincingly) for, and also gives associations both to arches and arch{bishops, dukes}. I like it!

i really like everything that thayer's done, but this definitely takes the cake. i'm not sure if this was intended as a bit of a joke.. but in any case, great work wulax!
I've seen young people waste their time reading books about sensitive vampires. It's kinda sad. But you say it's not the end of the world... Well, maybe it is!

Hello,
I came across this page. It reminded me of Arch Linux. For what it's worth:

I would like to thank everyone responsible for Arch Linux. Please continue to improve it.
Thank You, From an appreciative new user.

Hello all.
I'm new here. I'm cartoonist from Brazil and archlinux user since 2002 (I think) I'm learning the English language... so, forgive my mistakes in the grammar or vocabulary.
Then.. let's start.
cerise,
Your logo for arch is great. But the arch in italic and linux in normal font, IMHO, is not so good. the kerning between the words arch and linux is very large. I think... the archlinux is better noticeable upon utilizing colors (only). Arch in blue, linux in black... or other colors in italic or normal font.
Regards.

(technically, all comments go here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=38051)
but let me reply really quickly -- I've been told it's not 'archlinux' but it's actually 'arch linux' which is why my designs have a space, and a colour separation to show more 'space.'

I love stickers. (rendered at less than printable dpi here though, for speed.)
and buttons. why not play with the font used in buttons? some fonts can render well at the small button size, I think...

Concept A.
Still WIP... gotta tidy and improve... and have other ideas on the go, but I'd like to know what you think.
After a bit of brainstorming, and a pile of ideas, I came out with this. I might scan my brainstorming and sketches if someone wants them.
The motivation behind this logo is: Simplicity. Leading Edge. Flexible. Modern. Arch.
Some late late development & svg

Need London Between, linked above by foxbunny.
Also just mention that foxbunny's logo was a source of inspiration, hence the colour. Tad darker though, always liked a slightly darker yellow.
