Hey all
Don't think I installed anything particularly interesting recently (maybe some Alsa libs or something??) but today I tried to run K3b and got the following error
k3b: relocation error: /opt/kde/lib/libartskde.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZTv0_n28_N4Arts16SynthModule_stub11autoSuspendEv
Nothing on Google about it, so I guess the problem is pretty specific to Arch/my machine.
Does anyone have any ideas about this? It's pretty bad losing one of the nicest programs I use for KDE :S
Cheers. If I'm missing something obvious let me know.
T.

you run into the kde bug of archs kdelibs
try to downgrade your libs to 3.2.2-2
and downgrade kdemultimedia to 3.2.2-1 (i think)
or wait till the 3.2.3 packages will come out perhaps this weekend
and everything is rebuild with gcc 3.4 then hopefully kde gets rid of this sometimes annoying bugs ;-)

and an other possibility
try to rebuild arts against the new libs
and recompile k3b
there are some bug reports at
http://bugs.archlinux.org

Cheers for the replies.
One thing though, sorry if it's a question I could have answered myself (yes I checked some man pages!), how do I recompile things with Arch?
If arts is installed as a Pacman package (and k3b, for that matter) how do I go about recompiling them? Is it the same as Pacmanning them again? Or do I need some more specific commands to actually recompile, rather than reinstall.
Thanks,
Thom

to recompile a pkg, you need ABS ... search the docs for it
The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

do as root
'abs'
after updating the abs tree
search for arts and k3b
in the folders you will find the PKGBUILDS copy them to a directory in your home and do a 'makepkg' as normal user
