Hello there!
First of all, i search on the wiki and google, and i'm actually out of any ideas (and too... I speak or in this case write very bad in english, sorry...)
I'm trying to get direct rendering with xgl usin an ati mobility radeon x600, but doing all the possible solutions on the wiki, i don't fix nothing.
This are the results of doing an glxinfo:

more commands that i see on the wiki

As I said, I tried everything on the ati and xgl wiki, and nothing works for me. I really thaks you if you can help me

in your place I would start with open source radeon driver, get it working, play with settings and only then try with proprietary driver which are a nightmare to configure (I've never succeeded). But radeon driver is working openGL. you can search my posts for my ati xorg.conf to get some ideas.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i'm afraid to remove or reinstall drivers (open source or proprietary) the last time, I broke all the X system, and my only way was to reinstall the entire arch. I'm know that proprietary driver are an headache, but I would like to try with them first (I like the hard way (and this Isn't KISS...))
Even so, very thanks for posting, and if I can't do the xgl works, I'll try with the open source drivers.

Before install and try to configure the xgl, i'm have direct rendering.

as far as i know, xgl won't work with the opensource driver you need the proprietary driver...

That's correct, and i'm using the proprietary driver, the problem is that I've try all wrote on the wiki, and none works for me, even I tried to reinstall fglrx, installing before the libgl, and nothing works...

(I've got beryl working with cube etc effects and direct rendering - with open source driver, btw )
my guess your possible problems:
1. wrong libGL.so - might be symlinks or from previuos instalations
2. something with screen numbers -why not 0:0?
3. wrong ati driver (for x600 you need 300), check this:

I've done all wrote on the fist page, and wen I still not installed xgl I'm usually have direct rendering until I do this. I supose the libGLso i'ts correct, I also follow the manual of the xgl on the wiki, making a lot of thing that are written on the troubleshooting section. About the number of sceen, I've not idea, until I install the xgl usually I allways use the screen 0:0, and it's very strange, I know. And the last page don't work... hehe.

Hi! sorry for the long time not posting, I've doing many configuration changes.
aris002, I tried everything you write, and none works for me. In first place, i put the code you said, commenting the no_accel line (that makes the xgl "unstable"), and too I've commented out the extra similar sections. Now, everything works a little better, but without direct rendering... I tried all said on the forum you linked too, except the part of installing the fgrlx drivers from the ati page (the arch wiki strongly recomend to NO dot these).
I'll put the details of put on the terminal the commands said on the other forum, maybe soy see the solution.

hi, Raizha. Sorry about that not clear point No3 and ati link. I just wanted that you check that the driver is 300 series. I'm aware that arch wiki doesn't recommend the driver from ATI website (unless you desparately want to do all the tweaks yourself and compile your own kernel which is unlikely, I guess).
Let's say, if we suppose the libGL.so is correct then only xorg.conf is to blame?

The thing that I had some (similar?) problems until I
entered into "Server Layout" section

But you would need to edit everything to Screen0 accordingly in xorg.conf
also, by chance, check the file something you've got in: /var/log/Xorg.0.log /var/log/Xorg.1.log?
and your home dir Xorg logs and errors files. You can delete all of them. Then restart X and analyse them.

hi, Raizha. I'm very glad to hear your words of praise. But you did the main thing - achieved the result. It might persuade me to try upgrading my kernel and experimenting with the ATI driver, too. Also do you think, anything should be added from this thread and your experience to the arch wiki?
(...OTOH, I still can't understand what exactly restricts X libs to load that required extension without that script? Ok, I might think about this later...)

In my opinion, to use the proprietary drivers could be a good option... but I think that if you've something working well... not change it hehe.
I thing that can be a good idea to add on the troubleshooting section on the xgl wiki that if on the second method of load xgl with kde, if nothing work try to change the value "1" by an "0" on XGL and DISPLAY sections... it may works... or maybe not, luck cuestion maybe. I neither know why the X libs loads at these screen... But one thing is sure, I've got lots of help and luck
