PCMCIA Doesn't Work

I installed pcmcia-cs and it sees that I have 1 socket, but no matter what I do, this always happens.  With or without a card inserted.

When I type "cardctl insert", I get

PCMCIA: socket f7de8030: *** DANGER *** unable to remove socker power

Any ideas?

Re: PCMCIA Doesn't Work

I faintly remember reading about a change in the way the kernel switches off power to the PCMCIA sockets, and the faint chance of the new way confusing the controller. When you get this warning, the kernel failed to turn off the power supply to the PCMCIA slot, so don't insert anything until you googled for more detailed information. Using this exact error message should give you some info to work with.

HTH.

Re: PCMCIA Doesn't Work

I have googled, and yes, I found a few things about this but I have yet to come across a fix.  Also, my computer is less than a year old so I'm surprised this problem would exist.
